The Seeds of Change programme reimagines seniors in our community as empowered community leaders, challenging stereotypes of frailty and dependency while addressing the gap in ad-hoc community programmes that lack continuity and agency. The programme equips seniors with practical sustainability skills across urban farming, textile upcycling, thrift operations, and social enterprise models to create real value and demand.
Seniors are trained in these hands-on skills, then mentored as facilitators who co-design ongoing public programmes with EB Impact. They lead intergenerational sessions for residents, corporates, and students, while partnering with sectors on sellable projects, ensuring continuous space activation, intergenerational connection, purpose, and long-term sustainability for the programme.
Through the Seeds of Change fundraiser, we invite 50 organisations and donors to come together to power our Seeds of Change Programme, enabling seniors to lead sustainability workshops, mentor the next generation, and drive initiatives that bring communities together. The programme aims to create positive impact by strengthening seniors’ health, well‐being, and social connectedness, recognising them as assets, while also reshaping perceptions of ageing and Active Ageing Centres (AACs) as vibrant platforms for contribution.
Your support will fund the training of seniors to become confident facilitators of Intergenerational workshops in sustainable farming, cooking and textile upcycling. These seniors will then lead community workshops that reduce waste and promote climate-friendly practices, as well as farmers markets and community drives to showcase their upcycled crafts.
