About

In partnership with Buangdisini and iLitterLess, EB Impact launched the #RetainToSustain programme in Malang Indonesia. It is a campaign competition that builds awareness, knowledge and action towards the SDGs that are most impactful to Malang. To date, 165 high school students have signed up to join the programme, forming 36 teams working on the SDGs of focus.

The project team has conducted two workshops on the fundamentals of the Sustainable Development Goals and Theory of Change. Retain to Sustain will officially conclude in March 2024.

EB Impact, iLitterLess and Buangdisini aim to empower youths to drive climate and sustainability action through education and training. EB Impact has supported Buangdisini and iLitterLess through crafting our programming guidelines for their workshop, specifically content on the UN SDGs and green innovation. EB Impact is also supporting Retain to Sustain by fundraising for the programme.

Programme Structure

Retain to Sustain will be held across 2 key stages:

  1. Awareness Building
  2. Campaign Competition

These two stages are built upon and inspired the theory of 6 Levels of Knowledge, also known as Bloom's Taxonomy of Knowledge. In the Awareness stage, our goal is to build the student's capacity for (1) knowledge, (2) comprehension and (3) application of the SDGs.

The campaign competition itself will be able to build the other 3  higher levels of knowledge which are (4) analysis, (5) synthesis, and (6) evaluation. We believe that learning comes from experience and allowing students to gain this through a campaign competition places them as active agents in creating change and learning from this process.

Students will be free to choose an issue their campaign focuses on from the pillar of environmental development of the SDGs, with a compulsory primary focus on these 4 SDGs:
