CASA Initiatives 2022

About

A Climate Action SG Alliance (CASA) was set up to develop new initiatives to rally the public to climate action.

The mission of the Climate Action SG Alliance is to advocate climate action in Singapore by harnessing the power of public communications to raise awareness levels among the public on climate issues and to translate this awareness into action.

The alliance aims to identify and adopt various channels to spur grassroots support and action to help Singapore achieve its sustainability targets and reduce its carbon emissions in order to reach its commitment under the Paris Agreement on climate change.

World Clean Up Day 2022

Every year, World Clean Up Day unites volunteers, governments and organisations from around the world to tackle the global waste problem and build a sustainable world. Learn more about World Clean Up Day here.

This year, in partnership with Stridy, Cosentino, Coastal Natives and Kindred Community, and supported by the Climate Action Singapore Alliance (CASA), we brought together the ‘clean-up community’ in Singapore in spirit of collaboration and community-centred efforts to raise awareness and advocacy for a cleaner environment.

We came together for a community gathering event, where we were joined by Guest-of-Honour, Her Excellency Iwona Prioko, EU Ambassador to Singapore and discussed the importance of bringing together communities – from individual volunteers, to organisations and corporates, on World Clean Up Day to advocate for collection action for waste management.

In celebration of World Clean Up Day 2022, we gathered a group of volunteers together and set off to clean Tanah Merah Beach, in which we collected 74 bags worth of litter weighing 340kg.

Green Jobs Project

The Green Jobs project aims to create greater awareness for green jobs and to highlight key sectors involved in sustainability-related work. It aims to achieve this by running programs and events such as panel discussions, workshops and the creation of a community / platform for knowledge, resource and opportunity sharing.

Alongside Mayor Desmond Choo, took part at the annual SkillsFuture Festival and the Green Jobs team under CASA discussed the importance of green jobs, skills, the green economy, the demand for green skills in Singapore and resources for up-skilling for these jobs. The Green jobs team continues to build on the insights gathered from LinkedIn’s Global Green Skills Report.

The Green Jobs team will continue building on their efforts in the new year to help those entering the workforce understand the green jobs available and the skills required for those jobs by working alongside universities and other institutes of higher learning (IHLs) in Singapore.

In January 2023, EB Impact with the support of CASA will launch the Green Jobs Platform – a WhatsApp channel that will act as a platform for knowledge, resource and opportunity sharing. Learn more here.
